The resort of Los Cristianos lies in a sheltered bay in the south of the island, approx 30 minutes transfer time from the airport. What most visitors fail to notice is the now dormant volcano overlooking the village. Originally, Los Cristianos was a small fishing village and much of the old town still retains a Canarian feel. As well as the numerous tourists, many locals still choose to live here, and can often be seen sitting in the square around the old church watching the world go by.

The town has developed into a modern, thriving resort with plentiful shops, cafes and restaurants, but still somehow manages to retain fishing village origins. The crescent shaped bay has a beach over 400 meters long with a wide variety of water sports on offer. A wide promenade runs along a full stretch of the resort, continuing for several miles right into the heart of Playa de las Americas.

Next to the Arona Gran hotel, a regular market is held every Sunday. As with all markets, use common sense and be prepared to haggle, something the British hate to do. Nightlife here is not rowdy, although the town does have a couple of discos. Most people tend to relax and watch the world go by from the many restaurants in the square opposite the harbour.

The island of Tenerife lies a little way to the north of the Tropic of Cancer, however, gulf winds and the sea air that sweeps the island prevent it from mirroring its nearest neighbour the Sahara desert. The average daily temperature in Tenerife varies only slightly throughout the year with the gulf stream preventing the onset of winter. The minimum and maximum annual average air temperature in Tenerife are about 15C in winter and 24C in summer. Therefore the island enjoys wonderful weather in one of the world's best and most delightful climates.

Tenerife has many attractions to offer its visitors. Loro Parque is Tenerife's most popular wild life centre and receives more than 1.3 million visitors per year. The Octopus water park and dolphinarium is situated in the Costa Adeje area of Playa de las Americas a free bus service is available from Los Cristianos. Many other attractions are also available such as Go Karting, Bob Diving, Camel Park and Trips to the Banana Plantations. In our opinion the resort is an ideal place for a family holiday.
